My Experience With Lasik Laser Eye Surgery
69For years I told myself that I was going to get lasik laser eye surgery but I kept putting it off for some reason or another. two years ago I finally made my mind up and told myself that I would never buy another pair of eyeglasses again. Well, a year ago when I really needed to get a new pair I stayed true to my word. I went ahead and got the lasik laser eye surgery done. I didn't just jump in and do it though. I did my due diligence and spent plenty of time researching what was right for me. I mean come on, your eyes are a very delicate, very important part of your life. You wouldn't just trust them to the flashiest ad in the newspaper who offers the cheapest prices now would you? I know I didn't.
Not All Lasik Surgeries Are Equal!
Or maybe I should say not all doctors that perform lasik laser eye surgery or equal. Some have far more experience than others but it's not just the experience either. It also comes down to the equipment that the doctor uses as well. Some doctors are using outdated technology that simply won't do as good a job as the new technology will. Of course they won't tell you this if you don't ask though. You ever wonder why one doctor is advertising $500 an eye while some cost $1000 an eye? Most people simply don't know better and don't ask questions and go with the cheap one. Next thing you know, 6 months down the line they are still having problems with really dry eyes and their vision isn't perfect either. They start to question whether or not they should have gotten the lasik surgery done in the first place. Does this sound familiar? I hope not for your sake.
The Best Lasik Laser Surgery Available
In my research for the best lasik laser surgery I came across something called the Aleggretto Wave Excimer Laser. From everything I could find, this was the latest greatest laser eye surgery technology available. I read rave reviews and even talked to a few people who had it done with this technology. From everything I found it seemed like a night and day comparison to the older technologies. I decided that this was what I had to go with and luckily for me there was a doctor just 45 minutes away from me who was a pioneer of this technology. I would highly recommend that you do some research and find a doctor that uses this technology in your area. One of the biggest things about this laser for me is that it is way more accurate and precise than the older technology so it doesn't damage the nerve endings in your eye that tell your brain to make the tears in your eyes. Therefore, no problem with dry eyes that cause so many people problems after lasik laser eye surgery. It also has a much higher success rate on correcting your vision problems because of this accuracy.
The Big Day Was Upon Me
So the big day finally came and I was ready to go under the knife, er.... laser. I won't lie, I was pretty nervous that morning. Although I had been educated and prepped for the occasion, I still really didn't know what to expect. So I went in to the office with my brother so he could drive me home after. I'll never forget when the girl came to get me in the waiting room and she asked my brother, "do you want to come and watch?" He was as excited as a kid on Christmas morning. He practically ran through the door excited at what he was about to see. After all the prep with the eyedrops and such it was time to go. From the moment I walked into the surgery room till the moment I walked out was probably less than 10 minutes which I find truly amazing considering what was done. Everyone always asks me what did it feel like? All I can say is that it was one of the wierdest things I have ever felt. I felt the pressure pushing down on my eye when they made the initial incision but it didn't hurt because it was deadened with medicine. The laser itself I didn't feel at all but the funny thing is that I smelled my eye burning. It was definitely a strange smell. After I left out of the surgery room I was put in a regular examination room with the lights off for a few minutes. The doctor came in and took a look and then said you're good to go!
Recovery From Lasik Surgery
The ride home from the doctors office was probably the worst thing about the whole procedure. The sunlight hurt so bad it wasn't funny. I had to keep my eyes closed the whole time because the dark glasses were not enough. At this time my eyes really hurt with a burning sensation. I couldn't get home fast enough. I just wanted to crawl in bed and turn the lights off and sleep for a few hours, which is what the doctor recommended anyway. For a few hours after the surgery I had a very uncomfortable feeling in my eyes. By the next morning I felt much better and I could actually see really good too! A couple days later I went back to the doctor and took my first post operation eye exam. What do you know! 20/20 vision! That was a great feeling but I knew I wouldn't be happy until I still had 20/20 a year later. Another 2 or 3 weeks later I went back to the doctor and I actually had 20/15 vision now. That is better than perfect if there is such a thing! One of the biggest things for me is that they had to keep reminding me to use my eye drops. My eyes were not dry so I rarely used them but they said I needed to use them anyway. 6 months later I still had 20/15 vision and I was released from the doctor. I still haven't been back since but I have no problems with my eyes since then either. I can still see as good as ever.

Im blind as a bat whitout glasses, so this would be perfect for me.
I had surgery over 2 years ago with a surgon who does work for the 49'ers. So I did not go to a bad Dr.
My eyes are red and dry each day, one of then stings all the time. Nothing seems to clear out the redness, and I used to have the whitest eyes all the time, so white people would notice them. Now people ask me if I have been crying or I am tired. I wish I did not get the surgery, somehow contacts seem so minor now.
Great 1st hand information for those interested in gettin LASIK! I agree that the Allegretto is by far the best laser on the market!
HAha! Brothers are like that... Mine would want to watch too. Congrats on taking the big step! It's nice to be able to see, huh?
